The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), in collaboration with the police, has arrested nine suspects in Eastleigh, Nairobi, for operating unlicensed courier services.
Authorities have recovered parcels, receipts, and consignment books during the raid.
The suspects are being held at California Police Station and are expected to appear at Makadara Law Courts.
In a statement on Thursday, the CA cautioned the public against dealing with unlicensed operators.
“Dealing with licensed parcel and courier operators safeguards consumers, ensures secure and reliable delivery, and supports lawful and sustainable growth of the sector,” the regulator said.
The CA urged firms seeking to provide courier services to apply for licenses at its offices in Nairobi, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nyeri, and Mombasa.
Companies flagged as operating illegally include Al-Safa Parcel Services, Falcon Fastforward Parcel Services, Turkana Parcel Services, Ramadhan Parcel Store, Mandera Parcel Store, Skyway Centre, Sharks Solution Parcel Services, and Rahman Bus Services Limited.
The regulator said the firms were in violation of Section 67 of the Kenya Information and Communications Act, 1998.
